Hello everyone!
first time I post something here but am soooo excited!
we have a gorgeous young gelding on loan with purchase in the long term(and by the loook of it he will stay with us)
Shadow is 23 months old and has been very well trained. the small draw back is he was trained with food rewards so he always expect you to have something in your hand to give him but we are getting round this somehow!
Then we thought of having a companion for him to enjoy and play with and as the intention was to have a young filly to breed from we went to the Beaulieu horse auction to see what was on and how it worked! yeah right! that was the intention and as we all know the road to hell is paved of all those good intentions we had!
I let my partner Dave deal with it as he had the money burning his pocket!;-)
at the end of the day we came home with one filly who is six months old and two colts(6 months too) so our Shadow surely has some play mates and he has been such an angel. acting like the big brother showing them what to do and how it goes.(thank the lord, which ever lord it is!;-) we have two stables and the yearlings are quite small in size! phewww!
within a week we have thought one colt and the filly to accept the head collar and lead and walk alongside our hip then be groomed without flicking.
Being new forest ponies they of course gorged on the grass of our paddock so they were a bit bloated for the first two day but some mint tea in the drinking water help relieve that alongside with fennel and corriander seeds in their food. they had their pasport names and one of then was Ashely(the one who is still quite skitish at the moment) so as Dave has three nephews and niece we nicknamed them after the children. So our Shadow now has Loulou(for laura) as a girlfriend, stevie and Ashley.
We wormed them on Thursday and god all mighty what came out of them was unbelivable(considering it was said in the auction ring they had already been wormed- if you believe that, you'll believe anything!
hope I'll be able to include a picture to show them all to you.
Pascal
